Description
Seen from an overlook on the Bow Valley Parkway, the Bow River between Lake Louise and Banff (Alberta Canada) sparkles in the late summer day sun. The curve of the rail line seems to parallel the curve of the river and the Canadian Rockies sit in the distance. It would only have been more perfect had a train some along just at the time I was there! The Bow Valley Parkway is a scenic, secondary highway paralleling the Trans-Canada Highway between the town of Banff and the village of Lake Louise, and is a naturally and historically rich area of Banff National Park, and a year-round scenic heritage experience. It sounds even more romantic in French: la promenade de la Vallee-de-la-Bow. The Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks of Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho along with three provincial parks comprise a UNESCO World Heritage site.
