Description
Fishing and grape growing were historical occupations in Cinque Terre. Italy. Although the town of Manarola has no natural harbor, a breakwater makes the tiny enclosed harbor slight less dangerous. Residents can haul their boats to safety in bad weather using a large I-bean crane, lifting the boats to the plaza perhaps 50 feet above. Cinque Terre is a string of five centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline in the Liguria region of Italy. In each of the five towns of the region, colorful houses and ancient vineyards cling to steep terraces and fishing boats bob in harbors. The five towns are a hikers tourism resort paradise. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cinque Terre isn't undiscovered, but sometimes you can find a bit of calm in the touristic storm!
