Description
The Place Dauphine is a public square (it's really more of a triangle) located near the western end of the Ile de la Cite in Paris France. It was initiated by Henry IV in 1607 as one of his first city planning projects, and named for his son, the Dauphin of France and future Louis XIII, who had been born in 1601. If you head out the opening in the 'square' seen in the photo, you can access the middle of the Pont Neuf, a bridge which connects the left and right banks of the Seine by passing over the Ile de la Cite. Although steps away from the bustling bridge and around the corner from Sainte Chapelle, it remains a quiet place.
