Description
At the 'top' of Manarola in the Cinque Terre region of Italy is the Parish Church of St Lawrence (San Lorenzo). I opened the door slowly, half expecting to be told it wasn't open. But it was deserted and quiet. The church was built in Gothic style in 1338, as indicated on the well-worn cornerstone in the facade. The interior is simple, with three barrel vault aisles and plain furnishings. This is a look back toward the door, above which is a beautiful rose window.
