Everyone who visits Prague, Czech Republic, ascends the tower in the Old Town Hall and views the Old Town Square including the landmark Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady before Tyn. This church is a dominant feature of the Old Town of Prague and has been the main church of this part of the city since the 14th 9century. The exterior is impressively Gothic. In the early 15th century, Tyn Church came under the control of the Hussites. But Hussites were being slaughtered by the Roman Catholics and when the Catholic Jesuits took control they replaced the Hussites' symbolic chalice with a large figure of Mary seen between the towers. The towers are 80 m high and topped by four small spires. Climbing the town hall tower just before sunset lets you view the Old Town square and all the surrounding cityscape in the warm light of the setting sun.
