Description
Antwerp's central train station is a destination in itself, a top-10 attraction in the city! The station is now widely regarded as the finest example of railway architecture in Belgium. In 2009 the American magazine Newsweek judged Antwerpen-Centraal the world's fourth greatest train station after St Pancras in London, Grand Central Station in New York, and Chhatrapati Shivaji in Mumbai. Antwerp Central Station is often referred to as the Rail Road Cathedral of Antwerp and is one of Europe's most beautiful stops. It was designed by Louis Delacenserie at the start of the 20th century. One of the main entrance halls is so big, a troupe of 200 dancers can perform there....check it out! http://www.antwerp-tourist-guide.com/Antwerp-Central.html (scroll down the page to see the video of the dancers). I spent so much time photographing the interior that I had a hard time getting out of the station to see the rest of the city!
