Description
One blog I read about the towns along Lake Como Italy mentioned that everyone loves Bellagio but that Varenna was by far the writer’s favorite. So I was quite curious as we approached Varenna by boat. Then I noted the castle high on the hill and was instantly smitten! The climb up to the castle was short and not overly taxing and provided a fabulous view of Lake Como to the north and the Alps, and to the south. After spending some time enjoying that view, I came down to a cafe along the water…the one with the white umbrellas just left of center….to enjoy the view from there! Varenna is definitely on my list for a return trip.
