Description
Officially it's called AT&T Stadium but that's a pretty nondescript name. You wouldn't want to confuse it with AT&T Park in San Francisco; AT&T Center in San Antonio; AT&T Field in Chattanooga, TN; Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, TX; or AT&T Field at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, AR. So just call it Cowboy Stadium. Just don't let AT&T hear you! It serves as home of the Dallas Cowboys since opening in 2009. While many associated with the stadium and the Dallas-Arlington-Fort Worth metroplex would rather forget, some of its most famous moments centered around Super Bowl XLV in 2011. First a huge ice storm shut down the area right before the big game, then huge sheets of ice sliding off the dome as the weather warmed, and finally there was the ticket debacle that denied 400 fans a seat during the game. The facility is a multipurpose one, having been used for other activities outside of its main purpose (professional football) such as concerts, basketball games, college football and high school football contests, soccer matches, as well as motocross. The first official stadium event was a Paul McCartney concert on August 19, 2009. More recently, the inaugural 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship was played here on January 12, 2015.
