Description
Viewed from afar, the gullies of the Badlands National Park formations give them contour, structure, and depth. Up close, they have a beauty all their own. Just watch your step! This gully is in the Yellow Mounds area, an area formed during a period when the Rocky Mountains and Black Hills were uplifted and inland seas and rivers drained away, exposing the ocean mud to air which weathered into a yellow soil.
