Description
The Basilica of Saint James (San Giacomo) in Bellagio Italy is one of the best examples of Romaneque-Lombard architecture. It is also one a great example of how to put together an information sheet for visitors! Sheets provided in the church provided information on every part of the church, making what might have been a five minute look-see into a more extended visit. The construction of the church goes back to the end of the 10th century to the beginning of the 12th century. But like most historic buildings, it has undergone renovations and stylistic changes over the centuries. The altarpiece seen here is of gilded wood and dates to the 18th century.

It is truly amazing what the painters did so high up and on their backs. The tabernacle is stunning! FLTw
