Description
The sun was in my eyes as I made my way through the soft sand on the beach in Sandy Hook, NJ. I was hoping to take some photos of the New York City skyline from the beach but first I just had to see what the sign off in the distance said. With the sun in my eyes I had to walk up close to the shaded side of the sign to read it. I was quite surprised, not that there was a nude beach but that there was a need for a ‘warning’! Turns out I was on Gunnison Beach, the only legal nude beach in New Jersey, where the unofficial motto is ‘get naked or get lost’. Either that or “Life is Short: Play Naked” depending on what news article you read. If it had been summer, I probably would have figured things out a lot sooner, but being November, there were only a handful of sunbathers, all behind personal cloth windbreaks. Even so, I was embarrassed to be fully dressed and toting a camera, two no-nos on this beach!

Great story. I'm surprised there were even people sunbathing in November..
Joan Carroll replied:
thank you Patricia! they all had little cabanas to shield them from the wind so it wasn't too bad!
