This is the beautiful Bear Mountain Bridge, carrying US 6 and US 202 across the Hudson River, from Bear Mountain State Park at the northern tip of Rockland County to the northwestern corner of Westchester County. As I drove north from NYC on the west side of the Hudson, I keep peering through the trees, hoping that there would be a good place to pull over to take some photos. This is the view from Route 9W showing the bridge, a railroad bridge in the mid distance, and the William Moreau Popolopen Bridge (a pedestrian crossing) in the foreground. Although it was a cloudy day and threatening to rain all day, the beautiful fall colors of the Hudson River valley could be appreciated. I have a sentimental attachment to this bridge and thus was very happy to enjoy this view. As a kid, we would be taken to Bear Mountain State Park once every summer.
