Description
Many cities in Spain have shared histories and heritage among Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, and Cordoba is one of them. What is today the Bell Tower was originally a Muslim minaret, as part of the Great Mosque complex. After the Christians reconquered the city in 1236, the minaret was converted into a belltower. The Bell Tower is one of the most emblematic icons of the city of Cordoba. At 54m in height, it is the tallest structure in Cordoba. It is also a wonderful lookout point, where you can climb to approximately 40m to view the Monumental Site and see the city from a new perspective. The present day Mezquita-Cathedral is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing much of the historic core of Cordoba.
