Gulhane Park is a historical urban park in the Eminonu district of Istanbul, Turkey, located adjacent to and on the grounds of the Topkapı Palace; the south entrance of the park sports one of the larger gates of the palace. It is the oldest and one of the most expansive public parks in Istanbul. Gulhane means House of Flowers in Persian, appropriate for a lovely park. In the past this park was made into a rose garden so that Topkapi Palace would be steeped in fragrances of roses. During my visit it was winter with few flowers and many clouds. This was the bright spot of the part! Gluyhane Park was once part of the outer garden of Topkapi Palace; a section of the outer garden was planned as a park and opened to the public in 1912. It is a lovely refuge from the crowds of Istanbul, with lots of greenery and overlooks of the Golden Horn. There is access to the Istanbul Archeological Museum through this park.
