Description
The Canadian Rockies provide endless opportunities for exclamations of wonder! If you say it once, you will say it a hundred times, "This is sooooooooooo beautiful!". One such opportunity is the view of Castle Mountain or Castle Cliffs, one of the most imposing and prominent peaks in the Bow Valley of Banff National Park between Banff and Lake Louise in Alberta Canada. It got its name from an early explorer, James Hector, who wrote "Seeming to stand out in the centre of the valley is a very remarkable mountain...which looks exactly like a giant castle". While it is visible from both the Trans-Canada Highway and the Bow River Parkway, the latter provides opportunities to pull off into viewing and picnic areas to enjoy the scenery.
