The county courthouse of Cherokee County Texas is in the city of Rusk, roughly 120 miles southeast of Dallas. Cherokee County has had five courthouses, the first one built in 1846 and this one dating from 1941 in what is called the Moderne style. This is a style of architecture popular from the mid-1920s through the 1940s. It seems to represent a sleeker and more restrained form of Art Deco.
