Description
The chestnut breasted coronet is a hummingbird found in humid Andean montane forest in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. This one was photographed at Guango Lodge on the eastern side of the continental divide in Ecuador at an altitude of 2700 m (8858 ft). It is generally easily recognized by its contrasting rufous underparts and green upperparts. eBird calls it a ‘belligerent’ hummingbird, aggressively defending a flower patch or feeder!
