An early spring morning hike from Vernazza to Monterosso in the Cinque Terre region of Italy brought quiet, solitude and beauty! I started out very early so I was able to enjoy almost the entire walk without seeingo more than a handful of other hikers. Hiking in the Cinque Terre is one of the best things to do in Italy. Its hiking trails are among the most beautiful in Europe and if you are an outdoor lover, or just someone who wants some exercise in between decadent Italian meals, it is one of the most rewarding ways to enjoy Italy's spectacular coastline. The trail from Vernazza to Monterosso is the one of the more difficult inter-village hikes, with lots of stairs and narrow passages. But it's also incredibly rewarding view-wise. Its panorama of all five Cinque Terre towns is one of the highlights of the trip.
