One of my favorite hikes in the Cinque Terre region of Italy is the hike from Monterosso to Levanto because of the great sea views that you get between Punta del Mesco and Levanto. On this day, we saw some heavy rainstorms off to the north in the direction we were headed so we stopped and put on rain gear for ourselves and our backpacks so that we’d be ready if the rains came. Luckily, the rain either went another direction or dissipated and we enjoyed sun the entire time. In 1997, the entire Cinque Terre area was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
