Description
Dark Hollow Falls is the easiest to visit of the many waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park. They say "A short downhill hike of less than a mile takes you to this scenic waterfall." Only when we visited it in late March there had just been a late season snowstorm....so it was more like a slide down the hill than a hike. Most people, including us, did not have the proper footwear for hiking in the snow so you not only had to be careful for yourself, you had to be careful that someone else didn't slide into you. But the hike was worth it to see these lovely falls. The trail to these falls begins at mile pot 50.7 on Skyline Drive. The trail then follows the Hogcamp Branch of the Rose River down to the falls. The falls tumble down 70 feet over a series of drops.
