Description
Doubtful Sound in the Southland of New Zealand is place you get to only by boat. Even to do that you take a boat from Manapouri across Manapouri Lake, then get on a bus with your tour company and cross Wilmot Pass over to where you boat is. The suspense just kills you! Finally! This is the first view you get of Doubtful Sound coming over the pass. Then you just can't wait to get on your boat and go cruising. Although much larger than the famed Milford Sound, it takes second place as New Zealand's most famous tourism destination, likely due to the more remote location. Doubtful Sound was named 'Doubtful Harbour' in 1770 by Captain Cook, who did not enter the inlet as he was uncertain whether it was navigable under sail. It was later renamed Doubtful Sound by whalers and sealers, although it is not technically a sound but a fiord. Regardless, there is NO DOUBT that it is spectacular!

Interesting choice to go with B&W... It really highlights the textures and outline of the topography. Definitely looks a bit otherworldly.
