Description
My first jet-lagged afternoon in Paris, I decided to first walk around the Eiffel Tower since it was easy to get to on the metro from where I was staying. I ended up staying there for hours! I had a fascination at the enormity of the structure, especially when compared to everything that surrounds it. It's not only enormous, it's an architectural marvel and a work of art. Approaching the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero, you cross over to the Left Bank via the Pont d'lena (Jena Bridge) one of the many beautiful bridges in Paris. In 1807, Napoleon I ordered the construction of a bridge overlooking the Military School, and named the bridge after his victory in 1806 at the Battle of Jena. It was not the same bridge we see today. Over time several Universal Exhibitions were held in Paris and there was a need for the original bridge to be widened, which it was in 1937. The bridge was added to the French registry of historic monuments in 1975.

Wonderful perspective on this, one of my favorite places in Paris. I have been to the top twice, walked from the top, and dined there once... and I never tire of seeing it in photos, such as this beauty of yours, Joan. f/l

Joan, I love your treatment to give this view a wonderfully nostalgic last-century look - wonderful! L.
