Description
Early morning in Valencia Spain in the Plaza de la Virgen gives you a great view of El Miguelete, the bell tower next to the cathedral. Add to that the warm sunrise lighting up one side of the tower. The Torre del Miguelete also known as Torre del Micalet (in Valencian), or simply El Miguelete, is one of Valencia's iconic monuments in the heart of the city's historic center. El Miguelete is of gothic style construction made in the fourteenth century and finished in the fifteenth. Although the architecture of El Miguelete is mainly Gothic, certain Romanesque and Baroque elements can be observed in its design carried out during various periods. Its name comes from the name of its biggest bell "Miguel", made in 1532 and weighing more than 10 tons. Inside there is a spiral staircase with 207 steps up to the summit 63 meters above the ground where you can get nice views of the surrounding city.
