Description
I have always loved elephants and long to see them in the wild someday. However I have mixed feelings about seeing them in zoos and often come away from a zoo feeling depressed rather than happy. Nevertheless I went to the Atlanta Zoo, and as usual was captivated by these magnificent creatures. These are African elephants; they are the largest land animals on Earth. Ninety-six elephants are killed every day in Africa, and while we bemoan this fact, it is shocking and disheartening and sickening to learn that the US is one of the world's largest markets for ivory. A full-grown elephant has no natural predators besides humans. 50% of any artist proceeds from the sale of this print will be donated to the Wildlife Conservation Society or other groups fighting to stop elephant poaching and preserve these beautiful beings.
