Description
The first day we toured the Forum in Rome, we saw all the main sights. But by an accident of misunderstanding, we found ourselves in the Roman Forum a second time, and walking a pathway we missed the first time. It was a less traveled pathway probably because it was a 'dead end' and when you reached the end, you had to walk uphill back to the start! However, there were some quiet and architecturally interesting stops along the way, making the detour worthwhile. The Roman Forum was the center of Roman public life for centurkes: the site of triumphal processions, elections, public speeches, criminal trials, and commercial affairs. It has been called the most celebrated meeting place in all of history. Located in the small valley between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, the Furum today is a sprawling ruin of architectural fragments. Some of these fragments are 2-3 millenia old! It is hard to imagine our current structures approaching that longevity.

How very pretty this find is - great lines in the design and the textures and neutral tones emphasize the age and add charm.
