Description
I would love to know the story behind this fountain and battered tin cup! Near Varenna Italy on Lake Como you can make a short hike to ‘Sorgente Fiumelatte’ or the Fiumelatte source. Fiumelatte is the shortest river in Italy, running only 250 m. If that weren’t enough to make it famous, it only runs seasonally, drying up in the middle of October and reappearing in the second half of March with a raging flow. When you reach the ‘Sorgente’, you find this charming little water fountain with a tin cup hanging next to it. I imagine the water is a diversion fresh from the Fiumelatte (in the background). I made up my own story about the cup, you are welcome to dream and make up your story too.
