This is the fourth county courthouse for Freestone County, found in Fairfield TX. It was built of brick in the Classical Revival style in 1919. Freestone County was established in 1850 with Fairfield designated as the county seat in 1851. Previous courthouses were built in 1852, 1854-56, and 1919-21. Freestone County is located ninety miles south of Dallas, Texas and one hundred and fifty miles north of Houston, Texas.
