Description
Genovesa Island in the Galapagos has the world’s largest nesting colony of red-footed boobies so you definitely don’t want to miss that! This one was photographed on Darwin Beach. The red-footed booby is the smallest of the booby species, growing 25-36 inches and weighing less than 2 lbs. Adults always have red feet and red legs and the bill and throat pouch are colored pink and blue. There are several morphs (color variations) of the plumage: white, black-tailed and brown. The morphs commonly breed together but in most regions one or two morphs predominate. In the Galápagos Islands, most belong to the brown morph.
