Description
If you walk to the Sacromonte district of Granada Spain, you can't help but be drawn in by this house as you round a bend in the narrow road. You also can't help pulling out your camera. So you stop, take some photos, and enjoy the wonderful colors and patterns of all the pottery and plates on the wall. When you walk a little farther to the small table at the very right side of the photo, you see a small jar with a sign that says roughly (if I understood the Spanish correctly): If you like our house and took some pictures, please make a donation! The Sacromonte district is nestled within the brilliant green hillsides of Granada, in the Albayzin region which is in the old Arabic quarter of Granada. Sacromonte, meaning sacred mountain, is a wondrous relic from the past. With its whitewashed stonewalls, Sacromonte holds much beauty and history. The region of Sacromonte is home to a large Gitano, or Roma, community that first arrived to Granada in the 15th century.
