Description
These 40 foot by 40 foot umbrellas made their grand opening in the newly christened Sundance Square. They are sure to be the biggest attraction and asset, especially in the blazing heat and sun of a Texas summer! The grand opening of the new plaza took place on 11/1/13 after 18 months of construction. To long-time residents, the new and improved Sundance Square is unrecognizable, except that the iconic Chisholm Trail mural is still there, overlooking the western half (no pun intended) of the new square. The plaza is located between Third and Fourth Streets along Main Street, which is now permanently closed for the plaza. It took 18 months of construction to turn two parking lots and the street into two new buildings and the pedestrian friendly walkway. Sundance developer Ed Bass says the plaza has been in the making for 25 years. The plaza also features moving fountains and another water feature.

Joan, Great find and capture love the great clarity in this photo especially of the color blue in the fan and the reflection in this gorgeous looking fan. I have been to Austin many times and it was hard for me to imagine sitting and having lunch with a sprinkler being sprayed into a fan to try and dampen the air, great photo, fav and liked
