Description
On Genovesa Island in the Galapagos there is one of the main breeding colonies of great frigatebirds. So we had a lot of opportunity for photographing these “great” birds! They can be seen throughout the Galapagos in mangroves and deciduous trees, foraging over coral reefs and the coast, and flying alongside ships at sea. One notable characteristic of the frigate bird is their hooked beak which makes their fishing and kleptoparasitism (stealing food from other birds) much easier!
