Description
The drive to Milford Sound from Te Anau in Fiordland, New Zealand is an adventure in itself, with beautiful vistas at every turn. As anxious as I was to get to the famed Milford Sound, it was difficult not to be enthralled by the scenery on the way. This is a panoramic view at the Hollyford Valley Lookout. Historically very remote, there is still only one road into the valley, Milford Road. The Hollyford River runs through the base of the valley and beech forest dominates both the slopes and the bottom of the valley. This area is part of Fiordland National Park, which has international World Heritage status as part of Te Wahipounamu - South West New Zealand World Heritage Area.
