Description
I had a few hours in Rome Italy before catching a flight so I sought out some places I had never been before. I came to the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola at Campus Martius (Italian: Chiesa di Sant Ignazio di Loyola in Campo Marzio). It is a Roman Catholic titular church (a church in Rome assigned to a Cardinal priest), dedicated to Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. Built in Baroque style between 1626 and 1650, the church functioned originally as the chapel of the adjacent Roman College. In the presbytery the paintings illustrate key moments in Saint Ignatius vocation and of the Company's beginnings.
