Description
I lived in Fort Worth TX for 17 years before I happened to notice this sign in the downtown area. It's such a classic old sign, I can't believe I never saw it before. It is on a building on building (the white one with red trim) on Houston Street that is a wonderful example of early 20th century architecture in Fort Worth. The Red Goose Shoe Store building was built in 1903. It later housed Solomon's Juvenile Shoe Store. The building is now occupied by the Red Goose Saloon. The sign is probably from the 1940s or 1950s. These Red Goose Shoe signs were mass-produced. There are a handful of them on display around the country including these in Leesburg, VA, Port Gibson, MS, and Las Vegas, NV. The Red Goose Saloon currently occupies both floors of the early Fort Worth retail structure and it's pretty cool that they have kept the Red Goose part in their name.
