Reluctantly heading out from Varenna on Lake Como back to Milan, I spent my last few hours on a quiet walk between Varenna and Fiumelatte just to the south. From the nearly deserted Fiumelatte train station, you can admire the Lake Como view from high above the shoreline. Across the lake and on the other side of the hill is Bellagio. The point of land all the way to the right is called Punta Spartivento in Bellagio from which you can view a spectacular panorama of Lake Como looking towards the Alps. Punta Spartivento means “the point that divides the wind” as it sits at the point where Lake Como divides into two arms. On this day the morning sun gave a lovely glow to the landscape.
