Description
Driving north from Manapouri to Wanaka along Lake Wakatipu on the south island of New Zealand, all the turnouts are on the side of the road you are driving on, making it safer to pull off the road for some photos! Much of the road between Kingston, at the south end of the lake, and Queenstown farther north hugs the side of the lake and has many twists and turns. You just hope that everyone sticks to their own side of the road around all the bends! It's a gorgeous drive even on a somewhat gloomy day. Lake Wakatipu is an inland lake in the southwest corner of the Otago Region that was carved by glacial action 15,000 years ago. It is New Zealand's longest lake, and its third largest.
