Description
What I most remember about my first day in historic city of Avila Spain was the WIND! I was either hiding behind a wall or weighting my tripod down in order to take any photos. Here, I loved the look created by the late afternoon winter sun on the walls and doorway of an older building in town. But I had to find shelter to take the photo with the wind howling down the street that was a wind tunnel between the stone buildings! I was not to be deterred however! I was only in Avial for 3 days and had to make the best of what I had. In 1985, the old city of Avila and its extramural churches were declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
