Description
On sunny spring days, it is impossible to tire of the fabulously blue waters of the Ligurian Sea off the coast of the Cinque Terre villages. This is the view south from an outlook in Corniglia. Corniglia is the only one of the five towns not located on the water so the view is from on high. Look closely at the next to last headland and you see the next village south, Manarola. Off to the left can be seen the concrete structure of the rail line and tunnel connecting the towns. Cinque Terre is a string of five centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline in the Liguria region of Italy. In each of the five towns of the region, colorful houses and ancient vineyards cling to steep terraces and fishing boats bob in harbors. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Wow! And so glad you wrote up such a nice description, Carroll. I'd thought the image so grand it couldn't get any better, but the information on the five towns and World Heritage Site made me appreciate it the more! :) fav/like
