Description
Los idiotas. You don’t have to speak Spanish to make a guess as to the meaning. Google translate will tell you it means ‘idiots’. For some inexplicable reason people all over the world have jumped on the (idiotic??) bandwagon with love locks. Wikipedia confirms that and says that the trend for love locks has proliferated since 2000. Sweethearts affix a small padlock to a bridge, fence, gate, monument or other public fixture to symbolize their love. The sweethearts' names or initials, and perhaps the date, are inscribed on the padlock, and the key is thrown away (often into the nearby river) to symbolize unbreakable love. In Madrid Spain, these locks were found in Plaza Mayor, far from any river. We can only speculate as to who the Idiotas are, and what happened to that key!
