Description
I'm not sure why a cheap and flimsy 'love lock' on a bridge in a foreign city signifies something as strong as everlasting love but thousands and thousands apparently disagree with me! The 'original' bridge for leaving a love lock in Paris France was the Pont des Arts. However, the charm wore thin as sections of the elegant fence on the Pont des Arts crumbled under the locks' weight and had to be removed. The bridge carried several hundred thousand locks estimated to weigh more than 45 tons. But the problem is not unique to the Pont des Arts -- there are more than one million locks on at least 11 bridges and other landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower. Here is a section of the pedestrian bridge across the Seine, the Passerrelle Leopold-Seder-Senghor. I wondered what the story was for this young woman taking a selfie. You make up your own!
