Description
The cathedral in Lucca Italy is a bit off the main tourist route so is often very quiet and peaceful. On this blue sunny day, I thought I was so lucky that Piazza Antelminelli was deserted. I started setting up my camera for some photos of the fountain in the piazza with the cathedral in the background when a group of local school children on an outing appeared from around the corner. Hurry, hurry! The children all settled down at some café tables and started having their snacks and drinks so I had a few minutes for some photos. However, right after I left, they were all playing ring around the rosey (or something similar) around the fountain! I wondered if they just happened to have finished their snacks or if their chaperones has kindly given me some time and space! I’d like to think the latter. The fountain dates from 1832 and was designed by Lorenzo Nottolini who was responsible for many works in Lucca including the monumental aqueduct which brought water from the mountains to this fountain.
