Description

This many-striped canastero was photographed at the Antisana Ecological Reserve in Ecuador at approximately 12000’ alititude. It is also found in Colombia and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland. The Antisana Ecological Reserve was built in 1993 with the purpose of protecting the unique local flora and fauna. The climactic condition here are very extreme with los temperatures, low precipitation, high wings and low oxygen levels.
