Description
Many people drive straight from the entrance of Mesa Verde National Park to the cliff dwelling sites without stopping to admire the surrounding landscape. Mesa Verde is unique among US national parks for being known for its cultural significance more so than for its wildlife or natural landscapes. Still, there is a certain beauty to the desert-like landscape, especially when there is dramatic weather rolling in providing great light and shadows to the landscape! Here at the Park Point Overlook, one is at the highest point in the park with great views of the Montezuma and Mancos Valleys. Not visible from this point are any of the cliff dwellings. Mesa Verde National Park is in southwest Colorado, near the 'Four Corners' area of the US. The park is home to cliff dwellings that are archaeologically important and helped give the park a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing.
