Description
During my first visit to Budapest, I photographed this monument during the day but since then I had it in my mind that I wanted to go back to photograph it at night. I finally got my chance in February 2015, and after many rainy evenings the last night of our visit was clear. Lots of other people had the same idea so it was a bit tricky to get an exposure before someone walked in front of you! It took about an hour and many tries. The Millenium Monument in Budapest Hungary, sometimes referred to as Millenary Monument, is a Who's Who of Hungarian history. Like many things in Budapest, this was built to celebrate the country's 1,000th birthday in 1896. Two majestic quadrant colonnades serve as a backdrop for a large Millennium Column. This is the left colonnade and the 7 statues represent rulers from the early glory days of Hungary: St Istvan, St Laszio, Kalman, Andras II, Bela IV, Karoly Robert, Nagy Lajos, which takes us up to 1382. Atop the left colonnade is a statue representing Labor and Wealth.

I understand the waiting game, sometimes it takes quite a while to get the shot you envision in your head. I would say this was worth the wait! Excellent night shot and,I love it in B&W. L/F
