Description
You can walk into any big cathedral and the WOW factor is immediately obvious. But the interior of the chapel at MIssion Conception, one of the Spanish Missions in San Antonio TX, also elicits a WOW. You can't help but think that attending a religious service here would be a unique experience. Aside from the Alamo (which was originally a mission), the other four Spanish missions in San Antonio are still parish churches. According to the website for the church, there is a bilingual mass and a mariachi mass every Sunday. Mission Nuestra Senora de la Purisima Concepcion de Acuna was established in 1716 as Nuestra Senora de la Purisima Concepcion de los Hainais in East Texas. The mission was moved in 1731 to San Antonio. After its relocation most of the people in the mission were Pajalats who spoke a Coahuiltecan language Founded by Franciscan friars, this is the best preserved of the Texas missions. Mission Concepcion is included in UNESCO's World Heritage Site of Spanish Missions in Texas. The other missions are much less visited by tourists compared with the Alamo and are thus a much more rewarding experience.
