Description
It seems like a city can't exist any longer without an observation wheel, aka a ferris wheel. This is the version in Paris France in the Place de La Concorde. In this location it lies along the 'historical axis', which is pretty much a straight line most famously from the Louvre through the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe. This wheel has 48 pods and is 70 m high, and its website claims it is the largest in the world. It is set up in this location every Christmas since 2000 for the Christmas markets, offering great views of the Jardin des Tuileries, the Louvre, the lights of the Champs-Elysees. In 2016, it is decked out in face paintings using colours and flags of the nations taking part in the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament (Union of European Football Associations).
