In many of the places I’ve lived, residents seem to delight in telling you “If you don’t like the weather, just wait 24 hours!” Nowhere have I felt that to be more true than on Stewart Island New Zealand! On this day, it had rained overnight but was cloudy in the morning. So we set off on what would be a 16km return hike to Port William hut. Just 15 minutes before I shot this photo, it was still solid overcast but began raining hard enough for us to stop and put all our rain gear on! That was a bit depressing as we were about to stop for lunch and a rest. By the time we reached our lunch stop, the overcast disappeared, leaving us a beautiful blue sky. I could hardly believe my luck! So I got as many blue-sky photos as I could before the weather changed again.
