Description
Reunion Tower is a 561 ft (171 m) observation tower completed in 1978 and one of the most recognizable landmarks in Dallas, Texas. The tower is part of the Hyatt Regency Hotel complex which is seen at the lower right side, and is the 15th tallest building in Dallas. They say Reunion Tower is also known locally as "The Orb". Maybe that is a Dallas term, I've never heard it in Fort Worth! The building of the tower took place as part of an urban redevelopment project that also renovated the historic Union Station, that today services Amtrak, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and the Trinity Railway Express to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Fort Worth. It is from the platform of Union Station that I took this photo while waiting for the train. There are a remodeled restaurant and observation deck atop the tower. My last visit to the tower was prior to the renovations so I am due for another visit! The tower is located about 1,000 feet from Dealey Plaza and the site of the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
