Description
The Royal Palace in Madrid is a huge tourist attraction but since I didn't have enough time in Madrid to devote to another visit there, I had to content myself with checking out the architecture from behind the ornate fence! The Palacio Real de Madrid (Royal Palace of Madrid) is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family at the city of Madrid but is only used for state ceremonies. The Royal family reside instead at another palace on the outskirts of Madrid. This palace dates only from the 18th century after the old Alcazar was destroyed by fire in 1734. It was constructed between 1738 and 1755, and Carlos III established residence there in 1764. It is considered by many to be one of the finest palaces in Europe.

That's got to be the most intricate lamppost I've ever seen! Wonderful capture and processing!
