Our B&B was very close to this street, the Rue des Bouchers in Brussels Belgium, so we walked though here at all hours of the day and night. But only in the early morning can you actually get a good look at the street and architecture because at other times of the day, it is jam-packed! The 'action' gets going here around the dinner hour when the street is jammed with people looking for a good meal, and goes on here until well after midnight. Early morning you see the restaurateurs preparing for the day: receiving deliveries, cleaning the sidewalk, setting out the tables and displays. Rue des Bouchers is one of the most characteristic pedestrian streets of Brussels. It is known as Brussels� belly, due to the numerous caf�s and restaurants offering all types of local and international cuisine: Italian, Greek, Chinese and Indian. Many restaurants exhibit their fish delicacies on the windows surmounted by tons of ice. Ever since the medieval age this was the street of meat sellers (bouchers), hence the name Rue de Bouchers. Still today the street is overlooked by decorated portals, tympana and fa�ades dating from the XVII century.
